A GLIMPSE from JUST A SENT
A GLIMPSE from JUST A SENT
Nothing can reproduce
What we had
Only determination
In our consciousness
Pushing forward (the image)
From the past
Recreating bits and pieces
Today making an image
So we think
Taste of food, like
bread lightly run
Over the gas stove
Ethereal blue flame
Instead of today’s toaster
Creating tiny blisters
That’s how he did it in the morning
And a little orange marmelade
Or maybe butter
Or NEFFA
(snuff tobacco)
In a tiny silver box
Men would keep in the
inside pockets of their jackets
Today I just discovered
Understanding why
It was ….for the smokers
So on shabbat would kick
The want of a cigarette
They would sniff and sneeze
While it was passed around
To the men in the synagouge
Some would, others would not
Just a smell bring forward
My dear father
